There will be a live telecast of the international friendly between Euro 2008 finalist Netherlands and another European team Denmark tonight and it will be an interesting match to determine the Dutch’s strength of their lineup before the tournament starts. Be sure to keep a ear during the live commentary when the commentators start talking about the individual talent in the Netherlands team, with the likes of Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Robin Van Persie and Wesley Sneider hoping to make their mark on the biggest European football tournament in terms of scale and importance. While the bright orange jerseys of the Netherlands team suits their famous attacking game, there will be eyes on one of the brightest Dutch talents to come out of the country in recent years - Huuntelaar, who could very well be a contender for top scorer in the competition if he gets into gear.

While there might be a lot of interest in catching this game streaming online between Netherlands and Denmark, there will be just as much viewers who will catch it on TV when it is shown in their countries. Holland have a lot of fans all over the world, especially from the time Johan Cryuff brought the concept of total football to the world. It was a revolutionary at that time and till this day, it is rarely replicated at both club and international levels. It is a big contributing reason as to why so many football fans are eager to catch Netherlands games live on TV, radio and online in order to savor the delightful football they dish out in most matches. The football can sometimes be poetry in motion. Read the rest of this entry »

Now this is some crazy news coming out of Denver City as a man named Jeff Peckman, in his attempts to get voters to help set up a commission that will welcome space visitors to Earth, has pledged to show a video recording on Friday that will show proof that we humans are not alone in the Universe and that there is indeed life in outer space. On Thursday with city officials to review his ballot proposal, Jeff Peckman insists that he has authentic footage of aliens that visited the White House and even looked through the windows surveying the rooms.

While describing four foot tall aliens with grey skin, Jeff Peckman believes deeply that the Government has long since hidden the fact about alien lifeforms from the public and he wants to make a difference. While he need 4,000 signatures to effect the ballot, Jeff Peckman nevertheless said that there is growing momentum from the public all over the world to recognize this true phenomenon. In radio and telephone programs he has done in various countries, Peckman has received strong support from call in listeners who claimed to have personally encountered aliens. Today is the anniversary of the first successful Mount Everest ascent attempted by man, and it was a New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay who achieved the amazing feat that a few others have been able to follow since then. If not for the two, perhaps it might have been some more time before anyone could believe in themselves to scale the summit of what is considered the highest mountain known to mankind.

It would also be a little known fact with the current generation that today is actually the anniversary of the first Mount Everest ascent. It was 55 years ago when this was achieved, and with Google putting special logo on its home page to commemorate the event, hopefully it will bring more awareness to the younger generation who are more likely to be unmoved by the significance of something such as climbing a mountain. It is a feat of strength both physically and mentally, and one which anyone who has done it should be proud of and deserve to be celebrated for. Read the rest of this entry »

Hours ago, Comcast customers and users discovered that Comcast was hacked. Both the main website and several email accounts were affected. There is a sentiment amongst many in the cyberspace community that with this hacking, Comcast probably got what it asked for. It has been the target of much criticism and abuse since it supposedly started spying on its clientèle and also with its throttling policies. While some of these were done to protect itself, there was enough misinformation disseminated by the giant ISP when questioned about their activities, thereby angering many customers. Many of those who found their actions deplorable would probably have broken a smile when they hear that Comcast has been hacked.

The attack has so far been attributed to a group KRYOGENIKS EBK and DEFIANT, forgive me if I got that wrong for I am not sure what their full group name is. News of Comcast getting hacked started when customers went to their website and saw a message that said “KRYOGENIKS EBK and DEFIANT RoXed COMCAST” on the home page and nothing else. Right now, the declaration has been taken off and has been replaced with a parked page under Network Solutions, presumably with Comcast staff busy trying to repair the damage after being hacked. It has been confirmed that the Kim Jong Il assassination reports are false and that the North Korean leader is still alive and well, according to a Unification Ministry spokesman. The initial rumour shook the Asian world and stock markets across Asia suffered some negative reactions when the rumour was first reported on an online South Korean new site that might now suffer some penalties as a result. However, with the moves by the South Korean government to deny that Kim Jong Il assassination attempts were not true and the leader was actually still enjoying his reign in North Korean, it should help settle some nerves which had caused a slight ripple in the Asian financial markets.

Just imagine if it was indeed true that a Kim Jong Il assassination had taken place. The North Korean leader (sometimes spelled as Kim Jung Il as proper Korean romanisation) has presided with an iron fist over the communist country, with his father before him also in the same position. If you were to visit the country, you would have to bow to huge statues of both Kim Jong Il and his father as a mark of respect. There have even been songs created to portray Kim Jong Il as legends and his father as a heavenly bird that descended to save the country. If Kim Jong Il had indeed been assassinated, it would have been picked up by more than just one unknown South Korean online new site. More global media giants would have jumped on it fast and the news would spread like wildfire. Read the rest of this entry »

Branded as both a “mad scientist” and “wizard” mashed into one brilliant culinary master, Top Chef enjoyed Rick Tramonto’s appearance and stint as one of the judges tonight as he opened up his restaurant to the remaining participants on the show. Tramonto’s restaurant happened to be packed to the brim for the night and it really got on the competitors’ nerves as they were supposed to come up with each of their own special menus. At the end of the episode, Spike and Lisa made the bottom two and after offending and getting on Tramonto’s nerves during judging, Spike was eliminated from Top Chef.

There was not much coming from the guest judge as the owner of the famous Tramonto’s Steak and Seafood restaurant kept most of the comments to himself. When he offered some clearly logical criticism on the participants’ efforts, in the end he got some quite insulting advice from Spike. The latter had trouble coming up with a good dish after choosing unwanted scallop the other competitors left aside. When told by Tramonto that he should have left the scallops aside, Spike shocked everyone by rebutting that with his background and experience, Rick Tramonto should not even have had the scallops in the freezer. Wow! Read the rest of this entry »

The MLL draft (Major Lacrosse League) for 2008 sprung a minor surprise in its first round pick on Wednesday with University of Albany’s Jordan Levine chosen by the New Jersey Pride. While Levine was a shining light in the UAlbany squad with 13 goals and 20 assists as the team went to the conference tournament championship game, few would have expected bigger and more popular names to show up in the early rounds of the MLL draft.

Levine’s coach Scott Marr was perhaps the few who did not bat an eyelid with his player’s selection for the MLL draft first round after mentoring him to a stellar season in 2008. Marr was also adamant that UAlbany lacrosse should now deserve the resepect and attention it is starting to receive from the lacrosse community with their players now starting to feature constantly in the MLL draft every year. There are also expectations that Jordan Levine might become a future senior star in lacrosse with his team mentality and individual skills. Read the rest of this entry »

Deborah de Souza the ex radio presenter of FM 93.8 has passed away yesterday of stomach cancer in a hospital and the event was not reported widely but was made known to her colleagues today. Deborah de Souza was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer, stomach cancer apparently, earlier this year and has since fought against the disease for the rest of the year up until yesterday when the Lord finally took her away to his side and in the process left her family, friends and relatives who will grief the loss of the sweet and personable Deborah de Souza. A radio presenter with FM 91.3 Live, Deborah was remembered for being a media personality with humility entrenched in her being, and was well loved by many colleagues as well as the common man on the ground who tuned in time and again to her show. De Souza’s co-hosts have all spoken well of the radio deejay and some colleagues have even written sad eulogies about her passing since it was announced last night. Read the rest of this entry »
